Kho Tao continued...

Sorry for keeping quiet, we are as bit disconnected here on this island, especially on the beach where we are staying. Ahhhhh the beach... you have all seen the movie right? Well ours is much better! We have a cute wooden bungalow with banana leaf roof landed on a rock and overlooking the cutest little bay we have seen. Move your eyes a bit up around 6 and you see a beautiful sunset across the sea. There are two ways to reach it, after a 30 Min hike through the forest or a 10 min. ride in a long tail boat. Apart from the few other bungalows the center point of the beach is THE Banana Rock, the coolest place around (well its not hard there are three other places...), made of wood and run by a curly guy who barely speaks english and is much more concerned about smoking grass and fishing the whole day than whether you want to pay or not ;) Its magic, in the morning some of us wake up around 7.30 AM (unbelievable I know!) by the sound of waves splashing against the sand and go for a swim. The day we spent sunbathing, snorkeling with the most beautiful fish and sunbathing again, occasionally having the best coconut shake at the Banana Rock. We did explore a bit of the island though but hurried back to our little beach. Well that was life until the serious stuff started... Our diving course! Now we both have to get up early in the morning come to town (by boat of course) and spend long ours with our cool-sea wolf instructor Bob learning all those things you never really need in life, like how to catch your regulator (the thing you breathe with) if your buddy accidentally knocks it out of your mouth... and then you dive! Today we did it for the first time, its really amazing to see all these fish swimming right in front of your mask :) Peter is already looking for the whale shark of course :))

Well that's it for now, we are trying to put some pictures on as well, you will know if it worked.

Kho Tao

and here we are, turtled our way with the fastest ferry boat in the whole of Thailand and after 7 hours we made it to the beautiful island of Kho Tao (which means Turtle Island) after relaxing on the beautiful beach (ever saw the movie...) we fulfilled our most important task of the day, getting snorkeling equipment and now we have to hurry back to the beach again.

And more Bangkok

Yes, there is so much to tell, see, smell, gaze, admire, wonder, inspire and confuse us in Bangkok that after five days in the city we are still far away from getting a grip of it, but by now we can pretty well bargain with the Tuk Tuks, our favourite means of transportation, AC included ;)

And what a great way to start the day with a stroll down our little market street, have banana pancakes (they actually cook the banana IN the pancake) and a fruit juice and the best of it all, we have all the time in the world to decide which temple we want to see today. Well soon this idyllic romance is drowned in the sweat and smoke of this bustling city but its enough to keep the adrenaline high for half a day. Then we have something tasty to eat (and having pictures on the menu helps only half way through....). The city has so many faces: the ancient river and the sky train, the beautiful parks and smelly alleyways, the buddhist temples and the market-economy-is-the-god shopping malls and everywhere the little Thai people in their yellow T-shirts. Yellow is the colour of the King and it is everywhere, along with pictures, calendars, postcards and portraits of him, no doubt who sets the rules of the game in this country.

Bangkok...

Hi All,
we still did not figure out a place where we can upload pictures :( but i hope this will come soon. also the fact that we do not have the right cable to hook up the camera to the PC does not make things easier....

Anyhow we had our first Thailand experience - got ripped off by a taxi driver, disliked a ping pong place, had a hell of a ride with the fastest Tuck Tuck driver in all of Bangkok...
We are also slowly getting into sight seeing - great stuff Buddhas the size of a house and Buddhas and Buddhas and Buddhas and ....

we love it, cheers

Thailand...

Finally in Thailand. The flight was OK - we liked our German co-travelers a lot :)
Bangkok is humid and hot and the time difference is also working on us.
I hope we will adopt quickly.
Otherwise we are happy, the food is good and everything is more or less inexpensive.

We are both looking forward to adventure...

New Year

New Year we spent in the south of Bulgaria.
The town is called Kovachevica - Ковачевица.
Our group of about 30 people occupied most of the available accommodation.
Food and Drinks were excellent and company was lovely.

comment Peter - I have to go back cycling here.
comment Yva - I want to have such a house :)
